THE 2018 CONFERENCE BEGINS IN
Make History with Your Words
We write to change the world, to enrich it with our words. Whether a novelist, poet, playwright, TV, film, or non-fiction writer, we all strive to create works that will inspire our readers and change lives for the better.
Want to infuse some new energy into your writing? Time to connect with new ideas, fresh perspectives, and an international community of writers? All in the coolest colonial city in South America? Come on down!
Join us from May 28-June 1, 2018, in beautiful Cuenca, Ecuador for the first bilingual writing conference in South America. The conference will feature hands-on workshops and training sessions in all genres of writing and in all areas of expertise…from novice to expert.
For the first time, our hand-picked presenters will offer classes in both English and Spanish.
Courses will cover:
- The Craft: Enhance the craft of writing with courses offered for fiction, non-fiction, poets, children’s book authors, and screenwriters.
- The Business: Build your knowledge of the business side of writing with marketing, publishing, and social media classes.
- The Personal: Enhance and foster the creativity and confidence to write courageously.
This premier conference also provides a myriad of opportunities to explore the rich, vibrant culture of Cuenca… Santa Ana de los Cuatro Ríos de Cuenca. A UNESCO World Heritage city nestled in the Andes mountains and surrounded by rivers, Cuenca is considered one of the most beautiful cities in South America due to its 16th and 17th century colonial architecture resembling cities throughout Spain.
Attendees can tap into the magical energy of this city and breathe fresh ideas and creativity into their work by walking along cobblestone streets, enjoying outdoor dining on the river, visiting museums or flower markets, meeting people in cafes while sampling the best Ecuadorian chocolates, and exploring the myriad of shops brimming with alpaca sweaters, ceramics by renowned artisans, and of course, Panama hats… all made right here in Cuenca.
Expand your community! There will be plenty of opportunities for networking with other writers, eager to trade ideas and hear about your work. You may also decide to read some of your work at an open mic night or participate in a genre specific feedback group. Because this is a bi-lingual conference, you’ll enter a rich and diverse environment of international writers.
With tapas parties, performances by local dancers and musicians, quiet corners for a cup of coffee and a deep discussion, and genre specific networking groups, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to meet new writers.
And, you’ll have time for quiet writing or personal reflection. We know writers need time to withdraw and contemplate ideas so our agenda has plenty of breathing and writing room.
